Retreat Schedule:

Thursday
Guests can arrive at between 12:00-2:00 pm to settle in.   Note, lunch will not be provided on day 1, but we will have some welcome snacks to greet you.  Ronda will lead us in our first creative project celebrating Mexican artist Frida Kahlo beginning at 3:00 pm.  We will end the evening with our Welcome Fiesta and gift swap!

Friday
Creativity and relaxation will fill your day!  In the morning, we will travel into the jungle to meet-up with local artist Ana of Ana de las Bolsas.

Ana, originally from Canada, is passionate about bringing consciousness about Mother Earth through art using mainly recycled materials giving it a new life.  Her work is astounding. Following our morning creativity (and lunch), we will have an optional afternoon of hanging out on the beach, shopping or working on some stitching near the pool (we’ll have a fun stitch kit for you!).

We’ll conclude our day with dinner out at Ronda’s favorite beach location at Don’s where they have tasty fish tacos, ceviche and margaritas!  We’ll return to Casa de Leon for show & tell and more creative time!

Saturday
More creativity!  Si! Si!  We’ll kick off our morning with a fun stitched jewelry project co-lead by Kelli and Ronda.  And following lunch will provide more free time to enjoy the sounds & sites of Puerto Morelos and the Ocean.  The day will conclude with our farewell dinner at Casa de Leon.

 Sunday
All good things must come to an end and following Sunday breakfast we will say goodbye with new friends, fabulous projects and plenty of memories (and photos to share!)

Your Hibernate and Create RETREAT Hosts:

Kelli Sweet – Lindsay “Chef” Struble – Ronda Nusbaum

Kelli Sweet: Exploring is the general theme for Kelli – creativity, travel, food and more! As the artist behind Degrees by Kelli, her favorite mediums are jewelry, collage & painting and all things quilting & fabric related.

Kelli loves to connect and inspire creativity.  She founded Hibernate & Create as the 31 Days of Creativity Challenge which has blossomed into a beautiful Facebook community. In 2018 it expanded into RETREATS bringing people together for dedicated creative time with friendship & food!  And 2020 brought the addition of Crafty Mixer, an online virtual craft meet-up and Workshops & Classes in her studio at the Hot Shops Art Center in Omaha.

Kelli lives in LaVista, Nebraska with her husband Drew and their tabby cat Milo (aka Squeaky_Milo on Instagram)

Lindsay Struble: Lindsay is the “chef” extraordinaire behind the Hibernate & Create Retreats. A special education teacher by profession, we enjoy Lindsay’s delicious cooking as she “fusses” over the small details.

Lindsay loves to travel, explore and hop onboard when a friend needs a companion for an adventure. She loves to help others and make people smile! Her creativity and art is through cooking and the sharing of food. Her goal is to warm the hearts and tummies of the people she’s around!

Lindsay and her husband Tim live in LaVista, NE with their 15 year old kitty, Loki, who continues to entertain them at all hours of the day!

Ronda Nusbaum: The sea, sand and sun are all essential to Ronda’s well being and are reflected in much of her creativity. She fell in love with Caribbean Blue in 1993, but it is not easily found in Wichita, KS. In 2018, she and her husband Dwain acted on that love by moving to Puerto Morelos

She dabbles in many forms of art but textiles, slow stitching and mixed media are her passions.

Ronda and Dwain have 4 children and 14 grandchildren. Her current goal is completion of a quilt for each of the Grands.
