In this 2-hour session of creative play, you’ll explore color, pattern, design and abstraction with oil paints mixed with cold wax medium, a product gaining popularity for its versatility and range. Lori will show you tools & techniques, and you’ll create pieces on archival paper.
Students are not required to bring tools/materials, but are welcome to. For example, you may bring household items that might make interesting patterns or textures. Pieces of burlap, corrugated cardboard, bubble wrap, shelf liner, ribbons and string can all be pressed into the paint surface. Tools such as small trowels or dough scrapers can be used to apply paint or create textures. If students have art supplies such as oil paints in colors they particularly like, or tools such as print making brayers or palette knives that they enjoy using, they may bring those too.
