Lanesboro, MN:
Nestled in the Bluffs of the Root River Valley, Lanesboro is the hidden gem of Southeastern Minnesota.  It is a charming small community that was named one of the country’s “Top 12 Small Town Artplaces” in 2013 by Artplace America. Basically, it’s the perfect place for a RETREAT!

Bluff Country Retreat is located just outside of Lanesboro and will be our creative base for our long weekend. Each guest will be greated with their own twin bed in 3 shared rooms and a lovely creative space. Not to mention the view!

Driving: Lanesboro is located in the southeast corner of the state. And is a scenic drive of interstate and small highways, but well worth the trip!

Flying: If flying to retreat, you have several options to choose from with mutliple flights daily.

The airports in Rochester International Airport in Rochester, MN and La Croses Regional Airport La Crosse, WI are both about 1 hour drive.

Or, if you’re up for more of a drive and exploration of Minnesota, you can fly into the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport which is approximately a 2.5 hour drive.

Retreat Schedule:

Guests can arrive between 12:00-2:00 pm to settle in.   Note, lunch will not be provided on day 1, but we will have some welcome snacks & lemonade to greet you. Julie will lead us in our first creative upcycle and she has a fun project planned! Trust us, there will be a little glue and a little stitching in this beauty.  We will end the evening with our Welcome Dinner and gift swap!

Creativity and touring will fill your day!  In the morning, Megan will jump start your creativity with a fun mixed media project. Following lunch we will explore the nearby countryside with an Amish tour. We’ll conclude our day at the retreat house for show & tell and more creative time!

More creativity!  But first we’ll kick off our morning with a little shopping in downtown Lanesboro, including the farmers market. Then we will return for lunch and Kelli will have a jewelry project with a little bit of old and a little bit of new. The day will conclude with our farewell dinner.

All good things must come to an end and following Sunday breakfast we will say goodbye with new friends, fabulous projects and plenty of memories (and photos to share!)

Your Hibernate and Create RETREAT Hosts:

Kelli Sweet – Julie Geiger – Megan Gerrity – Lindsay “Chef” Struble

Kelli Sweet: Exploring is the general theme for Kelli – creativity, travel, food and more! As the artist behind Degrees by Kelli, her favorite mediums are jewelry, collage & painting and all things quilting & fabric related.

Kelli loves to connect and inspire creativity.  She founded Hibernate & Create as the 31 Days of Creativity Challenge which has blossomed into a beautiful Facebook community. In 2018 it expanded into RETREATS bringing people together for dedicated creative time with friendship & food!  And 2020 brought the addition of Crafty Mixer, an online virtual craft meet-up and Workshops & Classes in her studio at the Hot Shops Art Center in Omaha.

Kelli lives in LaVista, Nebraska with her husband Drew and their tabby cat Milo (aka Squeaky_Milo on Instagram)

Lindsay Struble: Lindsay is the “chef” extraordinaire behind the Hibernate & Create Retreats. A special education teacher by profession, we enjoy Lindsay’s delicious cooking as she “fusses” over the small details.

Lindsay loves to travel, explore and hop onboard when a friend needs a companion for an adventure. She loves to help others and make people smile! Her creativity and art is through cooking and the sharing of food. Her goal is to warm the hearts and tummies of the people she’s around!

Lindsay and her husband Tim live in LaVista, NE with their 15 year old kitty, Loki, who continues to entertain them at all hours of the day!

Julie Geiger Armed with a sewing machine or needle and thread, Julie Geiger creates all types of fabric wonderment including quilts, wool applique, embroidery and wool felt projects.
Captivated by all things fabric since she was a young girl, Julie is the owner of Prairie Point Junction Quilt Shop, Home of Wool Felt Central in Cozad, Nebraska. Julie will share her magic, some embroidery stitches and inspire you to transform needle, thread, into a wool felt masterpiece!

Megan Gerrity
She’s been obsessed with stickers and papers since Mrs. Grossman’s and Lisa Frank.  Relishes the first time she ever laid eyes on Creative Memories.  Spent years as a Stampin’ Up Demonstrator.  And has taken classes and seminars from some of the paper craft greats.  Spends hours watching You Tube videos.  But in the end, she loves journaling and memory keeping to share thoughts with her daughter (someday?!), keep track of the wonderful (and the sh!t), and to play with craft toys – mostly that last one.

Megan From Maryland “I’m excited to spend a few days in Minnesota laughing with friends, eating good food, and refilling my creative bucket!  And I am so thrilled you will consider joining us!!!”
