SATURDAY CLASSES

Intro to Lampwork Glass Bead Making
When:  9:30-11:30 am
Instructor:  Lori Skupa

Come learn the art of glass bead making. In this class you will learn the basics of how to make a glass bead in an open flame utilizing a torch, glass rods and mandrels.  Great for beginners or those wanting to brush up on their skills.Lori


Vinyl Sign Project
When:  9:30-11:30 pm
Instructor:  Julie Gier
Fee: $40 – All supplies included
Class Level:  Beginner

The class will touch on how to use a Silhoutte Cameo (cutting device) to create a vinyl die cut, apply to a painted wood surface for a fun gift or home decor.   If you are considering purchasing a Silhoutte or Cricut, or have one and want to learn how to use it better, this will help you.  Great for beginners!

Bullet Casing Tassel Necklace

Learn to create a beautiful tassel necklace out of recycled brass, hand dyed silk and fun bits of vintage jewelry!  Class fee includes all materials – however you are welcome to bring any of your own additional embellishments.Amy2.jpg


Oil & Cold Wax Painting
When:  1:00 pm – 2:30 pm
Instructor:  Lori Elliott-Bartle
Fee:  $55 – All supplies included
Class Level:  Beginner

In this 2-hour session of creative play, you’ll explore color, pattern, design and abstraction with oil paints mixed with cold wax medium, a product gaining popularity for its versatility and range.  Lori will show you tools & techniques, and you’ll create pieces on archival paper.

Students are not required to bring tools/materials, but are welcome to. For example, you may bring household items that might make interesting patterns or textures.  Pieces of burlap, corrugated cardboard, bubble wrap, shelf liner, ribbons and string can all be pressed into the paint surface.  Tools such as small trowels or dough scrapers can be used to apply paint or create textures.   If students have art supplies such as oil paints in colors they particularly like, or tools such as print making brayers or palette knives that they enjoy using, they may bring those too.IMG_8804


Wave Bracelet (Saturday)

When:  1:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Instructor:  Angela Szelag
Fee:  $95 – All supplies included
Class Level:  Beginner

Students will learn to make these simple bracelets using basic silversmithing techniques.  One bracelet will be copper or brass and the other one in sterling silver.  They will look gorgeous stacked on your wrist!

Optional supply:  Please bring noise canceling headphones or ear plugs as there will be hammering going on.

Note:  This class is being offered on both Saturday and Sunday.   You only need to register for one session.  (unless you want to make more bracelets!  smile!)

Polymer Clay Desk Pen Set
When:  1:30-2:30 pm

In this class you’ll get a taste of how FUN it is to work with ready-make polymer clay canes!  You’ll be making desk pens, but the limit of what you can do with polymer clay canes is your imagination!    All materials will be provided, but you will need to bake your creations at home (instructions will be provided).  Each person will be able to make 3 pens!  Bring a friend!pens1

Intro to English Paper Piecing – Necklace
When:  1:00-2:30 pm

English Paper Piecing is a technique when fabric is folded over a paper template and stitched together by hand.   Using this method we will make unique handmade necklaces.   Students can bring needle, thread, & glue stick.   Extras will be on hand.

Beginning Dot Mandalas
When:  3:00-5:00 pm
Instructor:  Ina Ohnmeiss

Learn the basics of starting a dot Mandala.  Also learn the meaning of a mandala, how your pattern is create, color selection, and basic strokes other than dots.  A new art that will challenge you and fun to learn.  You will go home with a journal with a dotted mandala on the front!INA

 

Statement Bracelet
When:  3:00-5:00 pm
Instructor:  Michelle Tucker
Fee:  $40.00 – Plus $45 kit fee payable to instructor
Class Level:  Beginner to Intermediate

Students will learn how to customize metal blanks by adding texture and stamping a word or name.  They will also learn to rivet and add patina.  Finally, students will utilize Irish waxed linen to string beads and finish their bracelets.

Kit includes:  Metal blanks (one custom clasp base and choice of one stamped shape), bar toggle, rivets, Irish waxed linen and bead mix.

Vintage Slide Pendants

With a touch of vintage, learn to make these soldered slide glass pendants which are perfect to preserve a treasured piece of lace or paper ephemera.  No prior soldering experience required.

Farmhouse Barn Quilt

Painting & creating beautiful farmhouse barn quilts.  A variety of design and color choices using milk and chalk paint to create a beautiful 25″ x 25″ framed rustic statement piece for your home.

Shibori Dyeing

Learn the art of Shibori Dyeing to create beautiful patterns on fabric.   During this class you will learn a variety of patterns.  Please bring a few items (5) of your own white goods to dye – they must be 100% cotton.  T-shirt, dishtowels, pillow cases, fabric, tote bag, etc.

Fiber Woven Bracelets

Fee:  $10 Plus $30 kit fee payable to instructor
Class Level:  Beginner to Intermediate

Hand woven bracelets!  Addictive to make and so much fun!! Great for gifts too.  Jodie will get you started on your first bracelet, show you how to set up your loom, weave a bracelet and finish it off.

Kit includes your very own loom, needle and selection of threads.

Explore the process of creating unique jewelry from leather.  Learn a variety of techniques!

Several cuff bracelets , earrings and a necklace will be created.  Embellishment and design options are endless in this workshop to make your one-of-a-kind jewelry.
